6 kilos of plastic rubbish collected at East Head

Our Year 3 and 4 children had a very successful trip to East Head for a beach clean up in spite of the chilly wind. Led by members of the National Trust the children wrapped up warm and got working with their pickers and waste bags and were quickly identifying all manner of rubbish on the beach.  In just thirty minutes they had already collected six kilos.

"The children behaved immaculately and after all their hard work they had a great time playing in the dunes. We've been discussing a variety of environmental topics in our lessons and it was illuminating for the children to see, first hand, some of the steps they can take to look after our wonderful world."
