“It’s a magical haven for learning and adventure.”
Joss’s mother
Children who spend time learning in a natural, outdoor environment have increased achievement levels.
We organise regular activities away from the classroom to spark children’s interest and consolidate learning. Our position near Chichester, the sunny South Downs and Chichester Harbour is ideal.
Outdoor learning
We organised structured learning outdoors as well as giving children plenty of playtime in 100 acres of stunning grounds, including exploring our lake and its environment by canoe.
Forest School
At forest school children experience their surroundings directly – the rain on their cheeks, the mud on their knees or the snap of a twig when it breaks.
In this busy, modern-day world, children are often over stimulated, moving from one activity to another without having time to draw breath. Forest school, held in our woods ‘the Boundaries’, creates a contrasting environment where the children lead the learning and investigate the nature that surrounds them.
Apart from learning new skills, making independent choices and having the opportunity to take supported risks, it is wonderful to give children the gift of time. We notice that the children quite quickly become far less reliant on adult input and begin working collaboratively together, as well as supporting and encouraging one another.
We see calmer, happier and healthier children come back from their forest school experiences.
Trips
We find out about the sea and its associated ecosystems on our local beaches in West Wittering.
We organise educational trips and workshops including outings to the planetarium, local museums and nature reserves.
Healthy, happy children
There are fun movement sessions for growing bodies that help develop concentration and confidence.
Children take part in a wide range of sports: weekly swimming in the indoor pool, judo, football, climbing (climbing wall), rugby, cricket, gymnastics, fencing, ballet and PE.
I love when we go kayaking and the teachers help me believe I can achieve everything and anything.
