We encourage all our pupils to follow the Westbourne Way, a strong moral code devised by our children that maps out the way our community wants to interact and grow together.
The Westbourne Way
- Be the best that you can be
- Help others to be the best that they can be
- Enjoy life and include others
- Be kind, honest and truthful
- Be respectful
- Persevere
Nursery and Pre-Prep
In the Nursery and Pre-Prep, the Westbourne Way has been simplified and the children are encouraged to follow it wholeheartedly. Teachers model good practice and show the children how to share, forgive others, be patient and kind. Children, who uphold the spirit of the Westbourne Way, are honoured in the Golden Book and each week children are invited up to sign the Golden Book during a special 'celebration assembly'.
- Be gentle
- Be kind and helpful
- Listen to people
- Share
- Be honest and truthful
- Forgive others
- Work hard
- Be patient
- Look after property
Prep School
Each term, we take one aspect of the Westbourne Way as a focus and through assemblies, form time and our PSHE programme – Learning4Life – we follow this strand of the theme.
For example, when focusing on ‘respect’, we organised some fun activities centring on table manners, tidy classrooms and highlighted how important it is to respect everyone we cross paths with. The kitchen staff were pleased to award table manner stickers for the best manners, and Year 3 and 4 children, who had excelled at table manners, were treated to tea with the Headmaster.
Teachers inspire their pupils to achieve, and the pupils respond enthusiastically. At the heart of their ethos is the Westbourne Way where every pupil strives to be as good as they can be.
