Are you feeling Olympic?

Year 3 were getting into the Olympic spirit with their very own Olympic Games in Chichester!

At Westbourne House School, our teachers go the extra mile … in this case it’s an Olympic mile!

"Plus vite, Plus haut, Plus fort – Ensemble"

Exciting launch!

To help our Year 3 pupils start thinking about the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship for their new topic, Year 3 teacher, Mrs Pitman, asked her colleagues to send messages to the children from different Olympic countries. They also had the chance to ask questions to our very own Olympic parent - Christina Handasyde Dick (Bassadone), who sailed in the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.

Patriotic Opening Ceremony

The teams were very patriotic at the opening ceremony parading their flags and banners with pride. There was the ceremonial virtual lighting of the Olympic flame.

The Games Begin!

From the coloured water relay to the rainbow tail challenge; from the ping pong bounce to the obstacle race; from a game of endball to short distance running, there was something for everyone and the children had great fun.

“The children supported each other’s efforts to achieve victory in the various events of the afternoon. Thinking of the Olympic values of excellence, respect and friendship, I was really impressed with the different ways in which the teams thought about how they could work more effectively together and give an even better performance."

Mrs Pitman, Head of Year 3

It was victory for Team Italy with the scores extremely close and medals and ice lollies for all the competitors. Inspired by our afternoon, the children are now impatient for Paris in the summer where they can further their interest about this wonderful and special event. They are busy checking out the schedule already!” Mrs Pitman added. Go, Year 3!
