Back from half term and straight into an adventurous outdoor Westbourne Award! Our Year 4 pupils were exhausted after their trip to the outdoor learning venue in the New Forest, Avon Tyrrell, but it was "awesome" said so many as they headed off the bus.
Year 4 teacher, Mr Stewart, said: "The trip was truly amazing. So many great memories all based on happy and excited children having fun in the outdoors, learning new skills, making new friendships and enjoying a heap of new experiences.
"Campfire fun by a roaring fire, night walks where we made pine needle tea, the leap of faith from a tall pole, a zip wire into the forest, scrumptious breakfasts and quality guides. I could go on."
As well as the amazing activities outdoors, the evenings were full of fun with a talent show after dinner starring most of Year 4. It was wonderful to see children who may not usually participate take the "stage", either by themselves or with new friends, and watch their year group cheer them on. This goes to show how important these team building and risk taking activities are for young people.
Mr Stewart continued: "The children were brilliant ambassadors for the school showing great manners and respect for the outdoors. A big thank you to all the staff who supported the children throughout (Mrs Champion, Ms Hannan, Ms Ayling, Mr Berry and Ms Bennett) - they went the extra mile and I am truly grateful. Well done Year 4."
