Boarding news - October 2023

We started the term in blazing sunshine with warm - well, really quite hot - days and plenty of evening sunshine for the boarders.  We made the most of the space and grounds, playing games such as croquet, rounders tennis and footgolf.

On Sundays we organise activities for our full-time boarders, which have included a sunset walk, shopping in Chichester, a high-wire adventure course, swimming and a visit to Exploria in Southampton amongst many.

Mr Allum, our Assistant Director of Music and key member of our boarding community, commented: “Our new boarders have quickly made themselves at home, with non-stop conversation both in and out of school; they were great company!”

Learning to play conkers is a must for all our boarders and it is especially fun to introduce this traditional British game to our international boarders!

In the evenings when the boarders returned to their houses, they've certainly enjoyed watching some World Cup rugby but there's also snooker, art and games. Mrs Armitage, houseparent of Shopwyke, said: "Last night the boys started building things out of Jenga blocks and so I said I could do better than that! I brought out Ella's mega blocks - something the boys wouldn't have played with in a long time. They had a brilliant time building."
