Boarding round-up

The summer term at Westbourne House School is a remarkable time for our boarders, who delight in the extended evenings and abundant free time. This term is packed with activities from tennis, cricket and golf to croquet and football. The school grounds provide the perfect setting for hanging out with friends, chatting and basking in the summer sun.

Barbecues and other delicious dinners provide the necessary fuel for the boarders, adding to the enjoyment of their evenings. The sounds of summer - leather on willow, tennis balls hitting the racket, resound as favourite sports are enjoyed with friends.

This Westbourne House traditional mix of organised activities, self-propelled sports, socialising and the warm sun makes the summer term an unforgettable experience for everyone involved and creating memories that will literally last a lifetime.

Mr Allum, who lives on site and is part of the boarding team, arranged a leisurely morning walk around Chichester Marina for the weekend boarders, complete with refreshment stop at the Boathouse Café, followed by a far more energetic afternoon in the New Forest. A two-hour Battlezone Laser Game, located in a forest near Beaulieu was a hit with all who took part, including Mr Gourlay, resident sports graduate, who was the ‘best shot’ of the day according to the statistics!

Wednesday evenings are favourites with the boarders and are typically filled with laughter, fun and great food, as the matches finish and the boarders take over the school.

The summer term wouldn't be complete without the exhilarating slip 'n' slide down the slope behind the school. The children race to the slippery track before launching themselves and sliding through the foam to the end. The squeals of happiness and joy echo across the grounds.

After the slip 'n' slide, the boarders enjoy a BBQ feast, with games continuing to be played across the school grounds.

Another highlight of the summer term at Westbourne House School was the boarders' disco, an event that ended the term on an unforgettable note.

“Tonight was a fabulous end to the boarding year. Dancing, ice cream and a few happy tears … the perfect finale,” said Head of Boarding, Mr Fisher.

“DJ Stewart was outstanding as always and huge thanks to the boarding team for a really great summer evening.”
