The Westbourne House School boarders have made the most of the warmer weather and longer daylight hours
Our boarders have enjoyed the lovely summer evenings, socialising, playing tennis and cricket, barbeques, sun bathing and chatting.
The Pitmans quintessentially British trip to the seaside
We kicked off the term with a sunshine-filled weekend with Dower House parents, Mr and Mrs Pitman, in charge.
Mrs Pitman said: "It was an excellent opportunity for all the boarders to get to know our new boarder and explore Chichester. The weekend started off with ten pin bowling, which was competitive"
Mr Pitman then went on to say: "It was great to introduce this year's boarders to our annual trip to Funland on Hayling Island. Everyone loved the beach fun fair"
Summer BBQ on a Wednesday
During the summer term, as the days get longer, the boarders have been enjoy the gorgeous summer evenings. They get out in the school grounds making use of everything the facilities have to offer.
"It was one of those magical Westbourne evenings when the matches are over, the cars have gone, the phones stop ringing and the boarders rule the school!
Mrs Armitage, Head of History and former pupil of Westbourne House School
Mrs Armitage continued: "There is truly no better place to be and our pupils are making memories that will last a lifetime. After a delicious BBQ supper, shoes are kicked off and used for make shift goals, tennis balls bounce over the nets and friends gather to chat, lazing on the grass - boarding absolutely at its best with a game of tennis rounders before bed."
Mr Cousens takes boarders to 'Ninja Warrior UK'
Mr Cousens took the boarders for a spot of shopping for themselves on Saturday evening, followed by time in the sun and an relaxing evening in Main House. The next morning, after fuelling up on a full English breakfast, they headed to Dell Quay for a glorious harbour-side walk to Chichester Marina.
The afternoon called for an incredible trip to Southampton's Ninja Warrior UK. They swung from bars, ran up the famous Ninja Warrior Wall and played on the massive inflatable obstacle course.
The boarders then returned to Westbourne House and enjoyed another warm evening in the school's grounds, soaking up the last of the sun.
Virtual Reality with The Smiths
Houseparents Mr and Mrs Smith treated the boarders to a VR experience at Steyning Leisure centre. The children played a variety of games, the most popular being … the destruction of a zombie attack!
Mr Smith said: “It was such good fun. The children had a ball and so did the adults! It was the best of both worlds because we also got to take advantage of the good weather and we all had a picnic afterwards in the sunshine.”
Mrs Armitage takes boarders for a creative weekend
The local village of Bosham was the destination for the boarders during their weekend with Mrs Armitage. She reports: "We had a lovely afternoon pottery painting in Bosham! I’ve never seen this bubbly group so quiet as they focused on creating intricate designs on their chosen pieces. Even the teachers got involved and felt the pressure! After a fun few creative hours, we ventured out into the sunshine and celebrated with enormous ice creams and a walk along to the quay, where we bumped into lots of our Westbourne friends at the sailing club. A game of Poohsticks to complete the afternoon as we made our way home.
"The excitement built as we waited for our finished pieces to be returned – they arrived at the weekend and everyone was very pleased with what they had created! Now to get them safely home for half term!"
