Charlotte Sleep, our new Head of Year 6 and French Teacher, summarises events and activities from her first half term with Westbourne House.
Year 6 have had a hugely busy first half of term. The pupils have been looking ahead to their senior schools and have begun preparing for the application process. They had a workshop with Mr James and Mr Anderson on “interview technique” which will continue in their Study Skills lessons.
The Buddy program has been in full swing this term and the Year 6s have been hugely supportive of one another by patrolling the outdoor spaces at morning break and keeping a beady eye out for any unhappy or lonely peers. Along the same lines, Year 6 have inundated Mr Brown with applications to sit on The Kindness Committee. Results to follow after the break.
I was very proud to see three of the year group having hot chocolate and muffins with Mr Anderson on the last day of term for being nominated in the Friendship Awards. A huge well done to Evie Read, Carys Kicks and George Lin.
George Lin, in addition to Matisse Paternot and George Ignatchenko have joined Westbourne not only as new pupils in Year 6 but as international boarders. They have made such great first impressions and thank you to their Year 6 peers who have made them feel so welcome.
A fun highlight, of course, had to be the Form and Deputy Form Captains’ trip to see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they visited Edes House in Chichester.
Finally, the year group have been busy rehearsing for their Year 6 production of “The Rainmaker”. I cannot wait to see the final production!
A huge well done to all of the year and a special personal thanks from me for making my first half of term here at Westbourne so enjoyable.
