“Well done Year 8, you totally smashed it!”
Headmaster, Martin Barker
At the end of Year 8's phenomenal performance of Bugsy Malone, the crowd cheered and whooped.
In 11 days every one of our Year 8 pupils threw all their energies into this production to create an unforgettable night of extraordinary performances and teamwork, timeless tunes, outlandish characters, exciting routines and highly-challenging back-stage manoeuvres ... not to mention the foam party.
Massive congratulations to this amazing year group - what a wonderful way to mark the culmination of their final week at Westbourne House School.
Last night Year 8 made a team memory that will last them a lifetime and give them a confidence reserve they can always dip into, in the exciting years ahead.
"I've seen Bugsy Malone in the theatre and Year 8's version was even better. I knew exactly what was going on."
Bertie Year 6
A Year 8 production like Bugsy Malone involves our whole school community and would not happen without all those working behind the scenes, including the crack team of Year 8 back stage crew.
It was a phenomenal performance of Bugsy Malone, including this end scene - the splurge gun battle, followed but the iconic song 'You Give a Little Love'. We absolutely love the laughter, foamy cast and the way Year 8 lifted the roof!
A huge thank you to Harriet Baxendale who masterminded the fabulous costume design, the wardrobe and all the props.
To the A-team of Mums who lead the stunning make up and hair support.
To our musical director, Alex Dichmont and his wonderful orchestra.
To our Head of Art, Mrs Jeram, and her team who designed the incredible set.
To Matt and Rick for their legendary cameo roles.
And last, but by no means least, thank you to our Director of Drama, Ed Cousens, for inspiring every Year 8 pupil to push themselves to the limit and give a performance that a West End theatre would be proud of.
