To celebrate the life of Hamish Howitt (OW), a football match was organised to be played at Westbourne House. The Howitt Family were represented by a team called "The Red Mustangs", their opposition was a staff team, known as "The President's XI".
The weather was absolutely appalling but the game went ahead, both sides champing at the bit. Hardy spectators witnessed an epic encounter which ended 5-5, a perfect result you might think, but oh no. The younger "Mustangs" were keen to have a result, so two further 10 minute halves ensued. Eventually the players prised themselves off the pitch with the score at 7-5 to "The President's XI".
A big thank you must go to the Howitt Family who made the morning hugely enjoyable, their enduring strength is inspiring. Also Iain Thomas who refereed in horrendous weather. Finally to all those who played, including Ed Cousens who put the whole show together.
