Here are some pictures of the fun the children have been having at school over the last couple of weeks. Teachers and staff across the school love making this end of term particularly special.
Special events have included the Christmas Feasts for the older years, who stay at school late to wear their Christmas-themed hat and mask creations, eat a wonderful feast with their form tutor and be served by the other teaching staff!
As one pupil put it,
“It is my favourite Christmas tradition at Westbourne House because everyone is so happy and the food is delicious.”
The original tradition of the Christmas Feast started during the war when there were real food shortages, and so it truly was a very special Christmas meal, hence the name ‘Feast’.
The boarders voted unanimously for a Christmas roller disco, a slightly more recent tradition, but a tradition now all the same!
The Pre-Prep have had several special events including their nativities, as well as being surrounded by the most beautiful and magical decorations. We especially loved the 'foot print' penguins that were made by the nursery children, and the Year 2 penguins which they drew out, cut out and coloured in chalk pastels. The children also loved their Christmas party with a visit from someone rather special.
Across the school, we've been collecting for the Chichester District Foodbank, with cans and food appearing daily in great quantities under the trees.
Chapel Choir has been busy and a couple of their highlights have been singing at The Cross in Chichester and singing at a care home.
We kicked off three brand new two-year partnerships with local, national and international charities on our Tinsel Tuesday, a festive day of fundraising.
