Drama Murder Mystery Festival

Year 7 met up in the sports hall - dressed as a character of their choice - for their giant murder mystery festival in which they designed, rehearsed and performed their own devised murder mystery play.

To kick the day off, Mr Cousens tutored Year 7 on structuring their play, after which they set about plotting their mystery plays armed with motive cards for the suspects. 

The plays were performed with a flashback structure, allowing the audience to try to spot clues as to who the secret villain was! There were many terrific ideas on show as to where to set their drama. The winning play involved Sonny T playing an angry Latvian ballerina, wearing a bright pink, tight ballerina leotard and tutu. Further popular shows included a story set backstage at a Harry Styles concert and a trip to Las Vegas that went wrong. Audience members had to be vigilant to look for clues on the body as to who the culprit may be. One of the slickest plays saw clever audience members notice a tiny piece of wood chipping wedged in the victim’s bow tie - proving the clumsy Hungarian lumberjack had been visiting the hotel spa, ruining his questionable alibi...
