“Our Year 7 pupils were delighted to receive their learning devices - chrome books - and have been learning to use them safely and sensibly,” said Mrs Langford, our Deputy Head Academic.
Mrs Langford went on to recognise the importance of a hybrid learning experience which incorporates technology but does not eliminate the use of pen and paper: "We will be teaching our Year 7s how to use their devices as an additional learning tool to augment their learning, understand safe internet use and how to be responsible digital citizens - this is not replacing pen and paper.”
Headmaster, Mr Barker, added: "Rolling forward all pupils in Year 7 and 8 will have a Chromebook."
“In addition to the immediate learning opportunities, we need to prepare pupils for device use at their next school. This includes using the device sensibly and understanding risks and how to mitigate them.”
Martin Barker, Headmaster
"Our pupils' safety online is absolutely paramount to us and in order for all pupils' devices to be monitored and checked they will be required to access all information through their school login details. This will mean that the school will have control over the timings and content.”
