What do our boarders get up to on week nights?
We hear from Houseparents Mrs Cook and Mrs Armitage and from our Head of Enrichment Mr Cousens.
Nerf tricks
Our boys who board in Orchard House had a great time shooting cans and targets with nerf guns. “After a couple of competitions and plenty of trick shots, two boys were victorious and won themselves some extra tuck,” said House Parent, Mrs Cook. “Boarding Thursday nights are about doing activities together in the boarding houses. Our evening ended with a brief, but fun, nerf war in the common room and we had lots of laughs.” she said.
Bin liner fashion
On Wednesday nights all the boarders join together to have fun and this time it was the “Bin Liner Fashion Show,” organised by Mr Cousens, which allowed our Year 5, 6, 7 and 8 boarders free reign to create fashion masterpieces. “Pumping tunes (v.loud) played by our gapper Miss K, led to crazy dancing in crazy outfits – fashionistas watch out,” Mrs Cook added.
Knee Football!
Houseparent Mrs Armitage reported on the inventive, hilarious game created by our boarders - Knee Football! She explains: "What I loved most about this game was that it was invented by the boarders as a group; everyone was included, the rules were set, the playing field was level and they laughed their heads off. When you consider that many children are glued to their phones or screens at this time of the evening, this example of playing, of giving time to friends, of being original and playful was wonderful to see."
West Wittering beach trip
Houseparent Mrs Cook took the boarders to West Wittering beach after school on a sunny Friday night in September. The boarders, many of whom are new, couldn't believe we had such a big sandy beach so close to school. They took off their shoes and socks straight away to get the gorgeous feeling of warm sand in between their toes. It was a lovely way to end the week.
