Expert e-safety tips for pupils and parents

2 in 5 pupils have never told anyone about the worst thing that has happened to them online. This was just one of many hard-hitting headlines shared by E-safety expert Karl Hopwood to parents and pupils at Westbourne House School. 

"Always talk to a trusted adult if you encounter anything problematic online: parent, teacher, uncle, auntie. Never keep the concern to yourself. The adults can help,” Mr Hopwood said.
 

“Providing the tools and guidance to keep our children safe online is most effective when done when parents and school work together to achieve that outcome.

"Karl covered a range of topics: what is real online and what is fake (AI); navigating cyber-bullying should we experience it; social media platforms and the responsibilities they have in keeping children safe online; showing where on the social media platform children can go in order to block harmful or unwelcome content and lots more."
