The Year 8 Maths Team returned triumphantly from the regional finals of the UKMT Team Maths Challenge at Churcher’s College.
This is the UK's biggest maths competition, which is for pupils in Years 8 & 9. Our team of Year 8s came 4th out of 36 teams, beating lots of senior schools and other prep schools. It is a fantastic result and Westbourne House's best performance at this competition in recent years.
There were four rounds: a team challenge, a shuttle challenge, a cross number and a relay. Each round required excellent teamwork as well as mathematical perseverance and agility. All four boys performed well.
The team scored 75% over the day, doing particularly well in the cross number, scoring 87.5%.
