Westbourne House pupils and staff have been getting happier together to mark 2019’s International Day of Happiness.
Pupils of all ages danced their lunchtime away: singing, laughing and sharing fun together.
We created a happiness wall made up of photographs of the children holding signs describing what makes them happy. Additionally, some pupils wrote letters of gratitude, whilst others are collecting moments that they are grateful for in a happiness jar.
The International Day of Happiness was first celebrated in 2013 to mark a profound shift in attitudes all over the world: people recognising that 'progress' should be about increasing human happiness and wellbeing, not just growing the economy. All 193 United Nations member states have adopted a resolution calling for happiness to be given greater priority.
The children especially loved the dancing, and given dancing has been proved to make you happier, we are not surprised!
