Our string players were out in force yesterday, with a concert showcasing their hard work. Mrs Peskett’s and Mr Bridgmont’s pupils were in fine form in performances from soloists, duos and bigger groups.
The art of performing in a group is not to be underestimated; it is a skill in itself and a tricky one to master. However, there were numerous examples of the children working well together here.
The Shopwyke Quartet gave a splendid performance of Charles Wesley’s Quartetto II, whilst Francesca and James gave a spirited performance of the first movement of Bach’s Double Violin Concerto. Jemima also played fantastically with Mrs P in renditions of Telemann’s Canonic Sonata II and a traditional piece called Kemp’s Jig. The cellos were also out in force with an assured performance of Worried Man Blues.
Congratulations to all involved, and thanks to Mrs P and Mr B for their hard work!
