The Year 2 Pre-Prep children were lucky to see some new little residents to the school: baby coot chicks!
“This was a real first,” said Rick Knight, our Head of Canoeing and Kayaking. “I went out on the lake with the Pre-Prep children and we saw the tiniest chicks in their nest. They were a day old or maybe even less with their eyes closed. All of our Year 2 children saw them, which was very exciting having seen the unhatched eggs last week.”
“The children were so good at being quiet and we made sure we didn’t get too close to the nest. Afterwards, when asked what was their favourite part, many said that they just loved seeing the chicks.”
