Westbourne Awards are an exciting combination of fun adventure and a significant challenge, encouraging personal development and new skills.
In Year 3, the children spend the day at the setting of their Year 4 Westbourne Award, in the heart of the New Forest. They use a variety of skills including listening, cooperating, working together, patience, trust and problem solving.
"We had a wonderful reception when we arrived at Avon Tyrrell from the Year 4 children. The Year 3 children tried their hand at archery and all of them improved their style and accuracy with tuition during the session. All the activities were great fun and included some team building tasks where they had to work together to overcome a fun challenge.
Mrs Pitman, Head of Year 3
"One of the highlights of the day was going up to see the dormitories, where the Year 3s will be staying next year when we return to Avon Tyrrell for a two-night residential. There were squeals of delight when they saw the lovely rooms and realised they would be staying there with their friends," Mrs Pitman added.
