"It was amazing. It was an epic trip away!"
Year 5 headed off to the Isle of Wight for their residential adventure and on their return, we heard all about it, starting with the above comments from none other than the tour teachers!
The aim of the Year 5 residential was to encourage new friendships, take the children out of their comfort zone and complete team building activities. Tour leader Mrs Pollock added: "We had talked to Kingswood about what we wanted to achieve on this expedition and so the instructors looked at overcoming fears and all the children managed to achieve that.
"The children took part in so many activities: climbing, campfire lighting, den making, low and high ropes, archery, nightline (where you are blindfolded), disco, campfire games and the 3G swing. The latter was so much fun and quite a challenge; the children were harnessed up and then had to pull the rope which would set the swing off."
She continued: "The instructors were brilliant and so full of energy. It was a great location on the beach and we managed to squeeze in time paddling and building sand castles."

“The 3G swing - it is hard to find the best way to describe it. It was hard to trust the rope and afterwards I was just really happy I’d done it."
“The campfire - it was really funny."
"The disco was so much fun."
Charlie also tried to explain what the 3G swing felt like: "Afterwards, it felt like your stomach was floating and your head would fall off!” Angus added: “It went twice as fast I was expecting it to. It was also twice as fun as I thought it would be.”
