Year 6 put on an incredible performance of their show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Everyone in the audience was blown away by the singing, dancing, characterisation, accents, comedy moments and … car!
"You have been a team, a wonderful team, and you should feel incredibly proud of yourselves for all you have done. Seriously, that was amazing. "
Mr Barker
From start to finish, the audience was swept up in the musical adventures of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the truly out-of-this-world car. The audience loved the 'goodies' team of Caractacus Potts, Jeremy, Jemima, Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts as well as the 'foes': the dastardly and hilarious Baron and Baroness Bomburst and the spooky, long-nosed Child Catcher.
The big dance scenes were something to behold with the whole of Year 6 working together to incredible effect. Each scene was a visual feast…including Morris dancers, sweet factory workers, Vulgarian citizens and locked-up children.
"I had seven costume changes during the show!" said one pupil.
Here is just a short clip to share the joy of this Year 6 production. It was easy to forget that this was a whole year group of children who are mostly just 10 years old. As one young cast member said: "I can't believe I did that with my friends."
Our pupil reviewers said:
"It was the best thing. I liked watching my sister in it. The children and Mr Cousens must have worked so amazingly hard. They did the Toot Sweet song so well. I liked how the cast had made the sweets as well."
"I absolutely loved the Year 6 play; it was phenomenal.”
"It was really good. I really understood it so well. I loved that it was a musical. I don't do musicals at my school in Spain."
"It was really good and really funny. My brother has six parts in it and is in so many scenes."
