Knight, Princesses and Nobels

Year 2 had a fabulous culmination to their Knights and Castles topic, during which they learnt all about medieval life, events and castles.

Firstly, a special day for Knights and Princesses. They wore some incredible medieval outfits to celebrate, created a medieval maths board game and wrote a Robin Hood newspaper report.  Year 2 Teacher, Emma Temple, said: "In the afternoon we had our banquet in the woods and reenacted the story of Robin Hood."

Secondly, Year 2 had the opportunity to hold their very own barn owl like the kings, queens, knights and nobles of old! Our keen Year 2 historians were visited by some very special birds.  They had an up-close encounter with a European eagle owl, met a peregrine, tawny owl and a barn owl.  Their knowledge about birds of prey rocketed: skull size, eye movement, eyelids, silent wings and incredible vision.
