The WHS Community Hub is our brand new platform from which we will conduct various ventures and projects that will unfold during this period of remote learning. We have a range of exciting initiatives to unveil as the term progresses with something for everyone!
All pupils in the school from Nursery through to Year 8 have been invited to the Community Hub, which is hosted on the Google Classroom. There are two areas: an upload zone where pupils participating in a venture or project should submit and hand in their material, such as videos and photos; and a gallery zone, where the community can view and enjoy the projects uploaded.
Launching - Blue Peter, Leaders, Seventh Heaven Restaurant and Lunchtime Club
Leaders & Prefects
Do you know who all of the leaders and prefects are for this term? Do you know their passions and interests? Possibly not! Lucy P, as Troop Leader, developed this idea to help the pupils know their student leadership team. She asked the leaders to film a short video diary each to say hello to you and introduce themselves!
You can view these videos now in Gallery Zone: Leaders & Prefects Introduction Videos
The Seven Heaven Online Restaurant!
Year 7 have been tasked with launching their very own virtual online restaurant! They are busy filming themselves in their homes, in the style of Jamie Oliver, showing you how to make a wide assortment of delicious, healthy dishes to make with your families. All Year 7 pupils are involved in this project.
You can enjoy sampling their menu and seeing their videos in the Hub’s Gallery Zone from 22nd February.
Blue Peter TV – A Year 8 TV Channel
Year 8 have been tasked with keeping you all busy during these cold winter days by launching their very own Blue Peter TV channel. This children’s show is famous for delivering inspiring ideas to get creative with constructions, science, crafts and more. We are recreating the format by asking every Year 8 pupil to submit an instructional video on how to make something unique at home!
You can enjoy watching these videos within the Hub’s Gallery Zone from 22nd February.
Lockdown Lunch Club!
Anyone and everyone in our community can submit to this club!
Running out of ideas to keep busy during the chilly winter midday break? Let your fellow community peers inspire you! We would like to invite anyone from the Westbourne Community to submit photos or a short video of themselves (two mins max) showcasing a lovely way to spend lockdown whilst adhering to any current rules. We would love to pass on your inspirational ideas and share them with the community!
From trampolining dogs to creative things to do in a wintery garden ... inspire us! We will publicly celebrate the most creative ideas from each year group. We already know of one family who have a kitchen disco every Monday before school starts! Pupils might also like to send us material showing their progress in pursuing Mr Barker’s ‘new hobby challenge’.
You can start submitting from today to the Upload Zone. The submissions will be available to watch in the Gallery Zone as of Monday 1 February.
