What do you need for good teamwork and leadership? Our Year 7 pupils have been experimenting during their Leadership Day
There were six tricky challenges for the teams to face, set up by Way Ahead, the experiential learning specialists. We witnessed many attributes of great teamwork: good communication and listening, team members sharing knowledge and bringing different skills to the table. We also saw belief - that their team had the skills to beat the challenge.
"One team completed the task very quickly." What was their secret recipe? "They were so focussed, they worked in near silence. But there were lots of different approaches from the different teams - there certainly wasn't just one way to do it. Some teams chatted non-stop."
Mrs Barrow, one of the task leaders
At the end of each task, the team leader helped the children to reflect on the process, what they discovered and can learn from the experience.
The end result was inspiring: teams hitting a rhythm and being supportive of one another. Well done, Year 7.
