Our Nursery and Pre-Nursery children have been using their problem-solving skills to estimate the ages of our trees.
During our Forest School sessions this half term, the Nursery and Pre-Nursery children have focussed on the different trees we find in our own beautiful grounds.
We have been learning to identify these by looking closely at the leaves and taking note of the different shapes, sizes and colours. To our amazement most of the children are now able to name trees such as sycamore, ash, oak and horse chestnut.
We had another wonderful session, using our problem-solving skills and a piece of string to estimate the age of various trees. The oldest we found was a magnificent oak that is 210 years old!
The children have also enjoyed some quiet reflective moments each session, sitting quietly against our own ‘special tree’ and listening to the birds.
