Year 2 have been immersed in their learning about the Victorians, including artists of the era.
At the beginning of the term, Mr Bailey showed Year 2 a newspaper article revealing an intriguing discovery; a mysterious Victorian box had been uncovered in London.
Much to the children’s excitement, Mr Bailey was able to have the box sent to the Pre-Prep for further investigation. However, they were yet to discover the key. After debating its contents, a few days later, they finally received an anonymous letter, detailing where to find the missing key.
Bursting with excitement, they opened the box to reveal that it was a Victorian writing box, containing various artefacts and what appeared to be the start of a letter to ‘Dear Albert’. Could this have been Queen Victoria’s writing box? Writing their own letters, the children imagined what Victoria might have written to Prince Albert.
Later in the term, the children visited ‘Weald and Downland’ museum, dressing up and experiencing life as a Victorian child. They had great fun making drop scones in a Victorian kitchen, polishing the silver and experiencing life in a Victorian school!
