National Golf Finals: Radley June 2019

Westbourne House was one of only three schools in the country to get two teams into the National Finals at Radley.

Toby B & William F had qualified as the winners of the Southern region and Fergus K & Freddie G had qualified as one of the three the best National runners-up along with the second pairs from Loretto and New Hall.

However, in this pairs event it was Fergus and Freddie who played very well together to record Westbourne House its first ever top 10 finish in this event as they finished in 9th place.  This bodes well for next year, as both Fergus and Freddie will still be at Westbourne House.

In the singles competition Toby has been the top Westbourne Player for the past three years. However, he had also never been placed in the top 10. This year he significantly improved scoring 63 points, the equivalent to 7-over par from 18-holes on the very tight Radley.

This placed Toby as the leading English player in the whole field and fifth overall, out of the 44 players that had qualified for the final. Freddie and Fergus were placed 20th and 22nd respectively and Will was inside the top 40.

Congratulations to all the boys not just on their excellent performance, but also on the way they conducted themselves on and off the course on the day.

Finally, a big ‘thank you’ to Goodwood and Adidas for their sponsorship of the Westbourne House team and the parents for their support.
