Brand-new 'Guest Artist Gallery'
Our Guest Artist Gallery is a newly allocated space within our Art block to share the work of a different featured artist each term. As well as their work, it also features information about their life and their specific artistic passions. This term we launched the gallery with the work of Shazia Mahmood and she joined us at school and was interviewed by Year 7 pupils!
This idea, introduced by Mrs Jeram, is seeking to inspire our children to consume a variety of art and expose themselves to different methods and techniques which they can incorporate into their own work. This fabulous initiative will also increase the visibility of talented local artists, while also exposing our children to their passion and incredible expertise.
As well as showcasing their pieces, many of our prospective guest artists will be coming in to discuss their work with the children, or offer workshops and interactive sessions.
We’ve got a long list of artists who are hoping to come in and work with our children, do some different workshops and show them their craft
Mrs Jeram, Head of Art
"The enthusiasm of our local artists to share their work and their knowledge has been outstanding," Mrs Jeram said.
Our first artist, Shazia Mahmood, is based in the Witterings and specialises in coastal landscapes and presenting light and dark.
