Nursery in pictures

Our children in Nursery have been tidying the Secret Garden using rakes and brooms, filling wheelbarrows and having great fun in the late summer sunshine.

Pre-Prep Head, Caroline Oglethorpe, said: “We often head outside first thing in the morning, where the children can explore, investigate and learn. This is a lovely self-contained outdoor space for nursery where we always have a variety of activities they can engage with. Whether it’s art, movement, music, climbing, a mud kitchen, planting or gardening - there is something for everyone.”

“In our Early Years classes (Nursery and Reception), the children spend 50 per cent of their time outside – and they love it!” she added.

Stamping letters, meeting our postman Mark, who was a superstar and wonderfully kind, and seeing all the letters and parcels in the van ready to be delivered... these three children were very interested in seeing it all and finding out how their letter would get delivered to their house.

Each week, the children have been cooking together. They've have made apple and blackberry crumble, porridge, cheese biscuits and cinnamon biscuits.

Head of Nursery, Mrs Watson, said: "Taking part in cooking offers the children so many opportunities: weighing the ingredients, using different utensils to develop motor skills, following instructions, turn taking and working together. The nursery smells so good and the children have goodies to take home!"

Sometimes the teddy bears just have to go to the woods!
