We were delighted to donate lots of food collected at Harvest Festival to UKHarvest and Stonepillow.
UKHarvest wrote to us saying:
"We cannot thank you enough for your fantastic support during Harvest Festival this year. We have now brought your donations back to our warehouse to be sorted and re-distributed to our network of charities, who will be over the moon given the current challenges."
They also shared their new campaign - Pass the Pumpkin, which aims to encourage everyone to COOK not just carve their pumpkin this year. They shared these thought-provoking facts:
- Last year it was estimated that 41% of pumpkins bought ended up in the bin, uneaten.
- It is expected that a terrifying 22 million pumpkins will go to waste this year. (Source Hubbub.org.uk)

Gather a class with a pumpkin, follow our simple instruction video and share as a story on Instagram with the #passthepumpkin @UKHarvest before cooking up something orange and delicious.
This Halloween we want to encourage everyone to:
“Make Soup NOT Waste”
“Cook it DON’T Carve it
“Save our seeds!”
“Boil it DON’T spoil it!”
“Mash it DON’T Smash it!”
“Don’t be shy, make pumpkin pie!”
“Support UKHarvest this Winter”
“Together we can end food waste!”
If any of our families do chose to take the UKHarvest Challenge this half term, we'd love to hear about it! Email together@westbournehouse.org
