'Around the World' was a summer term cross-curricular geography and French project which saw the children in Year 5 preparing an ‘experience’ of a country for the Year 4 children. As well as increasing Year 5's knowledge and skills, the initiative was designed to help reassure our Year 4 children about their upcoming move into Year 5. The following countries were chosen: Brazil, France, Italy, Australia, India and China and in a week's worth of geography and French lessons our Year 5s researched different aspects of these countries. They then came up with various lesson activities for the Year 4 children from food tasting to plotting locations onto a world map.
Year 4 pupils excitedly participated and from a pastoral view it was lovely to see these two year groups interacting positively with each other in preparation for their joint form groups in Years 5 and 6 next term.
Much fun was had on the journey around the world and a quite few interesting facts were learnt along the way!
