Prep School History Prize

We are very proud of our Year 8s, who took part in the Prep School History Prize (Townsend-Warner Prize) and all received subject commendations after Paper 1.  The paper involved pupils answering 100 questions on world history with a strong emphasis on British history.

Very special congratulations to Kieran, who was the only Westbourne pupil to qualify for the final round of the prize.  The competition, which has been going for over 100 years, has an illustrious history, with George Orwell a former runner-up in his school days.

Kieran came 67th out of around 1200 entrants nationally with just the top 250 qualifying for the final round. Head of History, Mr Donald, said: "Kieran is a brilliant historian, so this is a well-deserved accolade. He is the only finalist from Westbourne, and given the strength of competition he has done incredibly well. The paper is marked by one of the history teachers at Harrow, who praised the quality of the answers provided by the all qualifying pupils this year."

Well done all. Good luck Kieran!
