Standing up and speaking in front of 100 people, including students who are studying for their A-levels, is undoubtedly a nerve-wracking experience.
Our Year 8 leaders, who were attending a Pastoral Networking Conference at Seaford College, embraced the opportunity to share our school’s peer mentoring and kindness initiatives and the role each of them play in helping other pupils. They didn’t let the nerves show and did themselves proud.
They explained: “We joined with other prep and senior schools to discover and share pastoral care ideas. We presented to the conference our roles at Westbourne House and how we help and support the younger years. We reflected on our own experiences of where older pupils have been kind and this has inspired us. We were really impressed with the confidence and enthusiasm of the senior school pupils.”
Monty added: “It was a really interesting to hear how the other schools support the younger children. We have lots of ideas to discuss now.”
“I am so proud of our Year 8 leaders today. They expressed themselves really well and showed such confidence in front of the audience. Well done Year 8.”
