Reception thought that their first off-site visit was simply ‘out of this world’. After excitedly boarding the school minibuses our intrepid explorers set off for the Southdowns Planetarium in Chichester. They impressed everybody with their knowledge of the solar system and constellations during a fascinating show in the Star Dome Theatre. The children were also lucky enough to handle meteorites and rock from the Moon and Mars – wow!
This visit marked the halfway point of Reception’s ‘Wacky, Weird and Wonderful’ topic which has so far included a hunt for some missing underpants, in response to the fabulous ‘Aliens Love Underpants’ by Claire Freedman, and an email from a lost alien - Q Pootle 5 - who would be bringing the children some 'moonpartyfood' to try. He brought fip (banana), jag (avocado), dib (cucumber), rit (apple), jid (blueberry, sep (cheddar cheese) and paz (beetroot).
The children tried each alien food and then had to guess what type of food it was. Then they counted how many children liked each food so they could work out which was the most popular delicacy.
