44 Westbourne House athletes went to the Sussex County Athletics Championships, which took place in K2, Crawley. More children had reached the qualifying standards, which is a credit to our school, but unfortunately we could only take one athlete per event. Any one athlete is can take part in just two events plus a relay. As this championship involves all independent schools in Sussex and has minimum standards, there is a very high standard and it is a tough competition in itself. On top of that the athletes have the added pressure of knowing that this is their opportunity to get to nationals.
Our athletes really stepped up with a massive 29 new personal bests (PBs), highlighted in blue on the results sheet. They also broke four school records (SR) along the way and we have county champions in three events. 13 athletes also qualified for the nationals and some in multiple events. A very successful day!
