Pupils returned having done a 'ton of great stuff' on their residential in Gloucestershire, as one pupil reports:
"We really did do a ton of great stuff. We learnt first aid including the recovery position and how to use a plastic bag to make a makeshift stretcher. We did some knife work and whittled a tent peg with a sharp end. We made shelters, which wasn't too tricky, and learnt how to make animal traps.
"One of the challenges was to make a mini-shelter, which would keep a marshmallow from getting wet, when water was poured on top from a jerry can of water. We learnt that you needed to use a lot of leaves and the winning team had actually buried their marshmallow as well which kept it dry."
"We also made a hat for the tribe leader and did a fun camouflage game, where you had to get close enough to read the number the leader was holding up without getting spotted."
It was an action packed few days in a stunning woodland location and we were finally blessed with good weather. It felt extra special to come together as a year group and get back to basics. Not a screen in sight! The shelter building was a highlight and for a brave few, it was the opportunity to sleep in their own creation. What an experience!

As this video shows, the children created their own entertainment as well as enjoying the songs and chants of the camp leaders!
