Rocking odd socks for World Down Syndrome Day

Pupils and staff rocked their odd, bright, colourful socks to raise awareness for World Down Syndrome Day 2021.

In form time and Mr Barker's assembly, pupils learnt more about Down syndrome via videos and discussion.  The points that came up in discussion included how enriching it is to value everyone for who they are and how brilliant it is that we are all unique. As Mr Brown said to his form: "If we accept people for who they are, we can see and appreciate their strengths."

Pupils and staff donated money to our school charity, Chichester Down Syndrome Support Group, to wear their home clothes and odd socks.  Together everyone raised £800.

The videos watched by pupils included ‘Dear Future Mom’ and Andrew's wonderful audition for Greatest Dancer both of which are great reminders to see the strengths in everyone.
