Delicious Roman taster platter, Roman numerals, banquet planning... it can only be Roman Day in Year 3! It had the feeling of a feria: a Roman festival.
Our pupils had a very busy day exploring many aspects of their Roman topic of Emperors and Empires. They enjoyed six enquiry-based activities starting each session with a question to explore, such as: What would you feed some important visitors at a banquet at Fishbourne Roman Palace? How did the Romans count without numbers?
Mrs Pitman, Head of Year 3 said: "The children worked in teams for some activities, helping each other empathetically to solve the puzzles. In the afternoon, they dressed up, performing role plays in various outfits of the time and took on the different roles with confidence. Everyone became a taste adventurer at lunch time sampling Roman food with honey cakes being a firm favourite
