Senior Sports Day 2019

Although I still wouldn’t describe the weather as a nice summer's day, we did manage to complete sports day on our second attempt; even though it finished off with a downpour! The only event which suffered was the Year 8 boys and girls high jump which unfortunately had to be abandoned.

The amount of smiling faces I saw on pupils whether they were in first or last place was testament to their sportsmanship. They truly understood the participation element of Sports Day and doing whatever they could for their patrol. There was lots of cheering and support for every participant.

The results sheet is awash with italics representing personal best (PB) results. There were an amazing 142 PB results in the track events and 88 in the field events! There were three new school records. William Ferrier and Vinnie Gooley managed to break their own school records set earlier in the season for hurdles with times of 15.41s and 13.61s respectively. The other school record came from Francesca Aston for javelin with a distance of 19.50m. This shows the pupils drive and ability to perform well while under pressure and in front of a crowd! Well done to all.

When the patrol points were added up, the Tigers managed to claim victory again with a total score of 219 points. It was very close between the other three patrols throughout the event but in second place was Otters with 208 points, closely followed by Panthers with 201 points, and Owls with 188 points.
