Shared dumplings for the Lunar New Year

More than a billion people around the world have celebrated the Lunar New Year and the start of the Year of the Pig this week.

Pupils from Years 3 to 8 gathered to celebrate in an assembly led by Mrs Sleep. Pupils learnt how to say “Happy New Year” - Xin nian kuai le - and then learnt about what animal their birth year symbolises. Pupils then compared their lucky numbers and colours!

Very kindly, one of our new full-time boarders, Jerry Wang, Year 6, made pork dumplings at the weekend in readiness for Chinese New Year and brought them into school to share with his friends at lunch time.

Happy New Year to all of the Westbourne community. Let us hope the prosperity of the pig visits us all this year!
