Titanic and Water Worlds

Year 2 had a wonderful time learning all about the Titanic at the Sea City Museum in Southampton.

The children experienced an amazing tour of the exhibition with plenty of hands-on activities, including steering the ship, putting coal in the furnace and tapping out a message in Morse code. During the workshop, they had the opportunity to learn about real-life passengers aboard the ship, make decisions about who should get a seat in a lifeboat and why the ship sank so fast. The children came back to school full of knowledge and answers to the questions they had.

The trip is all part of their fascinating topic, ‘Water Worlds’, which also includes learning about the different zones of the ocean, the incredible animals that live there, pirates and links with their Science topic, ‘Changing States’.

Both classes put on wonderful assemblies with songs to get the toes tapping and stories to make you think.  Here is 2SLo reciting poetry and tell us how we can help protect our oceans.
