Year 3 have got off to a flying start with their topic on the Romans, which sees them travelling back in time on a historical journey. This week they were spotted being trained up by the Marcus the legionary soldier who put them through their paces in a marching drill in the school grounds. The children were equally engrossed and inspired by Marcus’s talk on Romans and the life of a soldier. They are all fired up now for follow-up work about living on Hadrian’s Wall.
You can see the children in their cohorts (military units which at Westbourne House are their patrols) getting a taste of life as a Roman soldier.
