Westbourne artists' summer show

Art, Design and Tech exhibition was a feast for the eyes

Walking into the Summer Art, Design and Tech exhibition, visitors didn't know where to look first; it was a feast of colour and shape. The children had created in clay and glazed, bent wicker into fish shapes, painted in acrylic and watercolour, made collages, created two point perspective pieces, drawn in graphite, used oil pastels, made sculptures in Modroc and papier mache, taken photos, carved in soap, machine sewn, hand sewn, used wet felt and needle pointing felt techniques, and used resistant materials tools such as saws, scroll saws, files and disk sander - the range of skills on show was vast.

Every child in Year 4-8 had several pieces on display created in art, textile, ceramics and resistant material lessons throughout the year and Year 3 displayed their fantastic swamp monsters made in ceramics. The exhibition was a celebration of the children's creativity and individuality. Watch the video to get a feel for the exhibition and range of art created.

All pupils in the Pre-Prep and Prep School visited the exhibition to admire the artwork, as well as visiting with parents and grandparents.

Thank you to our Art team, Mrs Jeram, Mr Jones and Mrs Wooton, for creating such an incredible showcase of Westbourne House School art.

"I absolutely loved seeing the children's work from the hilarious and inventive Critters to the floaty felt jelly fish, the artist-inspired paintings and the clay creations. I truly appreciate the opportunities my children have to create, build artistic skills, imagine and explore ideas."
