Saturday lessons are set to end at Westbourne House, effective from September 2019.
Martin Barker, Headmaster of Westbourne House said, “The tradition of Saturday school at Westbourne House stems from its full boarding school origins in the early 1900s. However, following a strategic review, we have decided to increase the flexibility of Saturday school for local families seeking more family time at the weekends.”
Pupils leave Westbourne House at age 13 and go on to a variety of senior schools across the Southeast, a good number of which have flexible Saturday arrangements. Following this proven model, from next September, Westbourne House pupils will now participate in sports matches on Saturday mornings, rather than in the afternoon after lessons and chapel as in the current timetable. Enrichment activities such as kayaking and coding will now be an option in the afternoon for day and boarding pupils.
