What on earth

Having studied the United Kingdom at the start of the spring term (as part of the What on Earth topic), Year 4 moved onto studying Canada later in the term. The children developed excellent map reading skills and used a variety of atlases to cement their knowledge  They happily demonstrated their realising skills by drawing giant world maps on the playground from memory, complete with Equator, Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn and the Meridian Line.

Throughout the term, they have enjoyed learning from each other’s experiences of different countries through a series of child-led talk times.   They went to China, Finland, Canada (thanks to Mrs Whincop), Zanzibar/Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Australia, Brunei and New Zealand learning about traditions, culture, temperatures, fauna/flora and of course food!
