Year 7 Leadership Day

Our Year 7 Leadership Day plays an important role in developing the leadership skills of our children. From this fun event, not only do the children walk away with new found skills and a sense of achievement, but it also helps us track each child's progress, highlighting where we need to give support and encouragement to develop specific skills to the next level.

In groups, Year 7 were set six different, fun yet demanding group activities that needed cooperation to succeed! The culmination was a team task to solve a 3D geometric puzzle that is initially incredibly had to work out (30 mins), but the real challenge is how, as a team, precious minutes, then seconds can be shaved off the build time ready for the final competition to see who can build it the fastest (some teams managed under 10 seconds).

In a last fun twist, the winning team’s marbles were sent down a pipe, tipping a bucket that set off a rocket!  A fantastic end to the morning.

Every pupil learned new skills during the leadership day, including cooperation, communicating well, learning from mistakes, persevering and how to break down challenges into manageable chunks.
