A real celebration of what it is to be an Old Westbournian
It felt like the best OW hockey festival ever with 40 players split into eight teams and lots and lots and lots of wonderful supporters, watching and catching up on the sidelines.
A HUGE thank you to everyone for coming and creating the fantastic festival atmosphere. It was a real celebration of what it is to be an Old Westbournian. It was also very special to see Jen Sharman and many of her family who were playing or supporting festival. Thank you all for coming.
A huge thank you too to Cameron Franks for all the encouragement he gave players to join, for putting together the teams, creating a super match plan and for all the support he gives the OW committee. At the hockey festival he got the mix of each team just right.
Well done to Shopwyke Strollers, led by captain Toby Barton, for fourth place, the Grey Ladies, captained by Ed Timberlake, who won the Plate Competition, Green Hands, led by Lachlan Franks, who came second overall and a huge congratulations to our winners....
The Rigby Raiders, captained by Dill Howell, with Mark Schwarz, Alice Temple, Issy Perry, Scotty Clarke, William Dodd and Jonathan Haynes!
We hope you enjoy the photos although if you do spot some pretty tight bibs, know that we've learnt our lesson for next time: Year 8 bibs are definitely not big enough!
Next dates for your diaries:
- School Fete (Saturday 8 June, 12:30pm - 3:30pm): we encourage you to get together with friends and come and picnic, just like old times, before enjoying the one and only Westbourne House School fete!
- OW Cricket and Tennis (Sunday 23 June, 1-6pm): come along and play or support. Hoping for sunshine to complement the Pimm's and cream teas!
