Following four years of fundraising at school, we presented a cheque to the Royal British Legion in assembly this week. Representing the charity were Lisa Evans and Malcolm Scott, both army veterans, and Chris Smith, Standard Bearer for the Chichester district. Westbourne House has been supporting The Royal British Legion and its 14 - 18 Legacy since 2014. The total raised over the four years is £25,000.
Lisa Evans talked brilliantly to the children. She said she was overwhelmed by the amount of money raised and described to the children some of the ways the funds will help including supporting children and family members of soldiers currently fighting; and supporting veterans from the forces including rehabilitating injured soldiers and looking after soldiers in their old age.
This presentation concluded four years of support for the British Legion's 14-18 Legacy campaign, including art, family research and academic projects on WWI and very many fundraising events from Wear Red Day to cakes sales, sponsored swims and the school fete.
